i'm not the type of person that does much with the socializing sites on the web, such as facebook, twitter, myspace, etc. i have an account on each, but with the exception of twitter (which i use slightly more), i don't give a crap. anyway, there was this thing on sodahead, which stated - Children born in the winter months have several strikes against them - which is the title of an article in the Wall Street Journal, of all places.
the article from online.wsj.com goes to say : Children born in the winter months already have a few strikes against them. Study after study has shown that they test poorly, don't get as far in school, earn less, are less healthy, and don't live as long as children born at other times of year. Researchers have spent years documenting the effect and trying to understand it.
all i can say is BULLSHIT!! i was born in december. and other than being a drama magnet, which i chalk up to being the baby in a family full of drama queens, i am definitely the opposite of what they are claiming. i can't believe a reputable newspaper would print such trash. as a winter baby, i am offended.
i have a bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited state university in technology and business management. i have aced classes in business law. i'm a certified computer technician. i've worked for 3 major computer companies. i graduated in the top 1 percent of my class. i could go on and on, but i don't care to.
they also go on to imply that we're prom night babies - i.e. kids from parents who got knocked up in high school. hello, my parents were married a long time before i was born. this article just makes me want to hit somebody.
i'm ashamed of the WSJ. i thought they were reputable. guess not.
here's a link to the actual article for those who want to read it:
